History
Initially based in Zug, Switzerland, ESF was founded by EUROSPINE, the Spine Society of Europe and the European Spine Journal in 2007.
The Society asked the Foundation to develop and professionalise its Educational Programme, in close collaboration with the Education Committee of the Society. Following several years of development, EUROSPINE took over the operational tasks, while continuously improving the academic value of the educational content.

EUROSPINE Education Programme
The Foundation reoriented its activities to its primary goal: fundraising for research and education in Europe, but also beyond. We want also to help educate and train care providers from the less favoured areas of the world, with the ultimate goal of giving the population of these countries access to premium, evidence-based spine care.
